Make a Video Game for Twenty Bucks

I have a lot of great stuff on this site when it comes to making video games without spending a penny. I have the complete tutorials and the software downloads. And it's all free. But the software is old and you could do better. All of that is a great way to start if you have no budget at all. You can get a good understanding of video game design and what you have to do to make one.

Yet, while browsing around I found out that a software tool that I bought for fifty dollars is now only twenty dollars. And this is a complete piece of game developing software. It is called FPS Creator and with it you can create a full fledged First Person Shooter. And you can have a small one complete and burned onto a cd your first night.

So What is it like?

Well, its a few different things. First off it's like being an architect where you design a level, put in rooms, chambers, corridors and all sorts of things. You design the floor plan. Then you go on to do the archictecture like columns, objects, doors, etc. Then you add textures and colors. Finally you put in your character and the bad guys.

That's the nutshell version of it and that is how you get started.

Of course it can get more in depth when you can start creating and modifying artifical intelligence scripts to get customized behaviors.

And the company has a product called dark basic which is a logical next step in game design where you do coding in their Dark Basic language.

It's really about the creativity

In Today's world who writes out millions of lines of game design code? Not too many people. It isn't about that any more. Game making isn't about creating a game, it's about designing a game and using assets already coded. And that's what this is about. It's about using a design tool to make a creative, fun, and entertaining game. Making an actual game that you and others can play.

ANd for twenty bucks you really can't go wrong. I give this a big thumbs up and if you are looking for an inexpensive way to get started this is a great way to go.
